Jesus told His disciples in John 15 that they had not chosen Him but He had chosen them and sent them to bear fruit – fruit that will last. He added that, “The Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.”
This followed from Jesus explaining that we are to abide in Him and that if we do we will bear much fruit. He explained that without Him we can do nothing. Christ’s followers are described as branches and need to abide in The Vine. We know branches depend 100% on the Vine. Jesus is The True Vine. We are the branches.
He chose the first disciples to bear fruit and likewise He has chosen us to bear fruit that will last and He encourages us to believe the Father will answer prayer. He promised so. John 15:7.
We can reasonably believe for answers to prayer that seek fruit for God’s glory, including success in going into all the world and preaching the gospel.
Abide. Pray. Bear fruit.
I was just thinking.
